‘Freedom and Justice Is A Lie’ – Ghanaians In the U.S Flood the Streets to Protest Sam George’s ‘Hate Bill’

Ghanaians living in the United States of America have taken to the streets to protest against Sam George’s restrictive anti-LGBT bill.

Protesting in the streets of Harlem, New York and Oakland, California, they described the bill which is close to being passed into law as a ‘hate bill’.

The Ghanaian nationals were joined by some LGBT allies to stage their important protest.

Carrying placards with different messages, they also chanted slogans such as ‘We demand equality in Ghana’, ‘Ghana’s hate bill has to go’, and ‘Freedom and Justice is a lie’.

They demanded for the bill to be completely scrapped and for Ghana’s LGBTQ population to be left on its own.

The protests follow a recent memorandum signed by various Ghanaian academics and lawyers also calling for the bill to be scrapped for violating the fundamental human rights of the gay community.

This comes following the tabling of a private member’s bill before Parliament by NDC MP Sam George.

George is seeking to criminalise all homs*xual activities in Ghana, including sympathising with, helping, funding or promoting LGBT activities in any way.

The bill has been panned for being anti-democratic and a tyrannical abuse of human rights.

Of course, that means Ghanaians love it because there is nothing we love more than taking rights away from people we do not like.
