Actors Are Not that Special – Lilwin Lobbies for Government to Pay Actors When they’re Old

Actor Lilwin has called on the government to be paying actors a pension in their old age to prevent situations like Psalm Adjeteyfio is currently going through.

Lilwin says actors entertain the nation therefore they have to be taken care of when they’re old and not able to make money anymore.

It’s not like other professionals contribute anything to the country at all.

In Lilwin’s eyes, actors are some special beings who deserve special treatment in their old age that other professionals do not get.

“Veteran actors are even supposed to be paid by the government; from 60 years and above. These people have paid their dues when it comes to entertainment. Even Ministers, when they have a bad day or a misunderstanding with their wives, they watch movies to laugh it off,” Lilwin said.

He called for actors to be taken care of when they’re alive and not after they’re dead.

“Ghana, this is the time you have to celebrate us not when we die. We like celebrating the dead, this is the time they have to tell us words of encouragement for us to be motivated when it comes to entertaining the public,”

His comment come after veteran actor Psalm Adjeteyfio was recently in the news begging for money.

The actor recorded a video to reveal he was broke and had no money food or rent.

His plea was heard by the public, leading to the Vice President and others donating immense sums of money to him.

However, Lilwin is now calling for the government to set up a fund to pay actors after they’re past 60 years of age.

Frankly, all other professionals are responsible for planning for their retirement hence actors should be responsible for theirs.

They are not that important for the state to make provisions for them. They’re professionals like everyone else.
