A cross-section of Ghanaians in the United Kingdom hit the streets of London Saturday, August 21st to protest against Sam George’s cruel anti-LGBT bill.
Reports from the protest point to an impressive showing considering it’s not easy to mobilize in London in support of an unpopular position in Ghana.
The protest was seemingly led by a couple of priests who are fully in support of the LGBT position.
In Ghana, religion and culture are being used to condemn the LGBT and criminalise their very existence.

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, is leading efforts by tabling a private members bill before Parliament.
The bill, “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021”, criminalises all LGBT activities in Ghana and punishes those caught in the act with a jail term.
It goes as extreme as to proscribe jail terms for people who show support to the LGBT community.
Majority of Ghanaians are in support of the bill but Ghanaians in the diaspora are not too supportive.
The protesters marched through the streets of London to the doorstep of the Ghanaian High Commission to make their voice heard.
They described the bill as “homophobic and anti-human right” and said it preaches hate instead of love.

They held placards such as ‘Our love is not un-African, your hate is’ and ‘let us love, let us heal’.
