The President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has finally paid the Ghc 3 million he promised as cost for surgery for the conjoined twins who went viral months ago.
Nana Aba Anamoah, the forerunner for this charity project, posted a video on her Instagram account showing the Minister of health disclosing that funds have been sent to commence the surgery.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo promised that the government would foot the entire cost of surgery for the conjoined when ace broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah shared a video of the twins on July 5 this year.
Social media users started getting impatient because the money was not forthcoming and even Nana Aba took to twitter to remind the president of the promise he made.
Good news reached many today in a video the broadcaster shared.
Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu said in what looked like a sit-down with some donors that they forwarded their request to the Chief of Staff and it has been approved.
He added that the state has started the procurement process towards procuring equipment doctors can use to perform a successful surgery.
“We wrote and sent our needs to the Chief of staff. They’ve written to release funds to us. We have started procurement processes toward procuring equipment that would enable the doctors perform the surgeries so we are seriously on course,” said Manu in response to a question by GhOneTV’s Evelyn Araba Aidoo.
He added, “We haven’t had any problem to complain at all. Some of the equipment have even arrived. The doctors are on course and we are getting things actually moving very fast for us to get the thing going.”
