A Monumental Disgrace – Beverly Afaglo’s Attempt to Rob Ghanaians of $20,000 Ends with A Miserable $1,800 – A Lesson to Celebs Living Fake Lives

Actress Beverly Afaglo’s ‘Go Fund Me’ has been called off after raising a miserable $1,800 from a lofty target of $20,000.

Ghana’s so-called celebrities think the people have nothing better to do with their money. After suffering a tragedy with the burning down of her house, actress Beverly Afaglo and those closest to her decided to set up a Go Fund Me account to raise $20,000.

Yes, they wanted to raise $20,000 from a country where most citizens are broke. Or they thought Ghanaians were shouting ‘fix the country’ out of amusement? No, it was out of desperation.

For the avoidance of doubt, $20,000 is close to Ghc 121,000 (or 1.2billion old cedis).

After about a week of calling for donations and receiving no response, Afaglo had enough and last night ordered Yvonne Nelson to take down the Go Fund Me post.

She also out of shame tried to explain why she’s begging for money now after claiming in a video a few years ago that she was richer than Solomon himself.

It didn’t go down well.

It’s not that Ghanaians cannot donate to worthy causes – the late artist Ray Styles and the family of the young brain tumour patient all raised huge amounts in very short periods – the problem was Afaglo.

Ghanaians are sick and tired of celebrities bragging all over the place about how rich they are when in reality they are just barely surviving like all of us.

If Afaglo had been honest about her living conditions from the start, Ghanaians would have had no problem helping her out. However, most people regarded her with scorn when she came begging after bragging years prior that she’s so rich she can travel to Dubai every month if she wanted to.

Why should a struggling ordinary person give their money to such a person?

Another lesson for celebs is the value of activism. Something tells me if it was Efia Odo in this predicament Ghanaians would have rallied behind her.

Why? Because when people were crying out about their living conditions, she proudly stood with us and even suffered a lot for it.

Meanwhile most celebrities hid in the background like they had no idea what was happening.

If they can’t stand with the people when we need help, why should the people stand with them when they need help?

A simple question for all those audio celebrities out there.
