Wanlov The Kubolor is not just known for his music and skirt wearing, he has over the years used his platforms to advocate for LGBT+ and human rights in general.
He has revealed that his advocacy is a result of a deep shame he has been carrying for years and is trying to make up for his actions.
Years ago there was a viral video of women getting assaulted while eating fufu in a chop bar, and Wanlov thought it was funny and made fun of them for not giving up on their food even after getting beaten.
According to Kubolor, his reaction to the video has been a source of shame for him for the past years and he has decided to make a public apology for his insensitivity.

“I’m doing this video to apologize to women, Ghanaian women especially Suraya Speaks. About five, six years ago there was a video on Twitter circulating. I think it was two or three women eating fufu and one or two guys walked into the chop bar or the restaurant and beats or slaps, attacks one of them and they did not drop the food.
“They continued eating right after the attack and I made a horrible comment laughing about it, finding it funny, which in retrospect was a very foolish thing to do because I enabled abusers. Women are being disproportionately abused by men, and women are oppressed by men so it wasn’t a good position at all for me to take. It was a horrible position…
“I never made a formal public apology about that, I have rather since tried to bury that shame with my activism and more and more I feel the shame growing inside of me the more I point out abuse of other people. So I really want to say unequivocally that I regret doing that and I’m ashamed for doing that…”
