Nothing Will Stand In The Way Of Passing Anti-LGBT+ Bill, Take Your Perversion Let Me Take My Truth – Sam George Goes On Homophobic Rant

Ghana is gradually carving a niche for itself as a fertile ground for homophobia.

The LGBTQI+ community has always been stigmatized in the Ghanaian setting, but in recent times the campaign to criminalize their activities has generated a more passionate response.

Lawmakers who should be making laws that could actually improve the lives of impoverished and under-catered Ghanaians are instead passing laws to further oppress already oppressed people.

A committee led by Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George presented parliament with a bill that seeks to not only criminalize homos*xuality in all its variants but also make it an offense to be an ally or provide any support whatsoever to members of the community.

Frighteningly enough, parliament is in full support of such a violent bill, with the Speaker of Parliament describing homosexuality as “worse than COVID-19”.

“I can tell you that it is more than COVID-19, and I am happy that our beloved country, Ghana, is together in this. The President has spoken, our traditional leaders have spoken, our religious leaders have spoken together, and Ghanaians have spoken with one voice, and we don’t want to do anything that has to do with LGBTQ activities. I will always do what is right because good will always triumph over evil.”, Alban Bagbin said when the bill was presented.

Leader of the anti-LGBTI committee Sam George is unrelenting in his homophobia and has taken to social media to defend his warped convictions.

“I have seen the attacks from a few goons aligned to a political inclination based on my leadership on the PMB against LGBTQI+ in Ghana. Bow your heads in shame. Nothing would stand in our way to get this Bill passed by the House. Take your perversion and let me speak my truth!”, the Ningo-Prampram MP tweeted.

These are sad times indeed for Ghana when the rights of people are trampled with pride under the nose of a President who claims to be a human rights champion.
