The Tamale Teaching Hospital has nabbed a notorious thief. yet to be identified, who has been stealing new born babies to sell to the highest bidder.
According to reports, the thief, an innocent looking young woman, has been successfully stealing newborn babies for years, leaving no trace behind.

Her innocent and friendly face is her secret weapon and she walks freely through the hospital wards without any doctor or security personnel suspecting anything.
After she was arrested, the hospital authorities found on her a polythene bag containing a huge amount of money.

Reports say the money was part payment for her job to steal the babies and she receives the balance when the family she’s stealing for gets their child.
It is unclear how many babies she has stolen but the hospital authorities were excited she was finally caught. Watch the video below.
Baby harvesting syndicates and baby thieves have been a big case in Ghana in recent times.
2021 has seen many of such thieves arrested and baby harvesting rings shut down by the Ghana police service in collaboration with the health service.
In January 2021, 11 suspects including two doctors, four nurses, two mothers, two social welfare officers, and a traditional birth attendant were arrested.
It follows a sting operation where two babies were sold to investigators for about $5,000 (£3,600) and $4,800 each. They were allegedly operating at health facilities in the capital, Accra, and the neighboring city of Tema.
