Actress Akuapem Poloo has revealed that she refused to open a bank account for her son as instructed by Child Right’s International boss because Mr Bright Appiah wanted to be signatory to the account.
Several days back, Mr Appiah said that he would have dropped the case against Akuapem Poloo if she had agreed to a condition to open an account for her son and deposited Ghc 200,000 in it.
According to him, Akuapem Poloo failed to do that – in fact she could not even raise Ghc 10,000.
However, Poloo’s senior manager Major Vines has given a different account.
According to him, the problem with the Child Right boss’ request was thatt he wanted to be a signatory to the boy’s account.
Vines, speaking on YFm, said there was no way they would agree for Mr Appiah, a stranger, to have a say in how the money put aside for Poloo’s son would be spent.
“They asked her to open an account of 200,000gh for her son and wanted to have Bright Appiah as the signatory to the account which was impossible”. he said.
“You don’t tell me to open an account for my child and tell me that you want to have your signatory on it. No, you don’t have that right…” he continued.
“…The courts will even have to decide if someone else must have his or her signature on it and even with that, the court will think critically about it”.
Poloo received a 90-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to 3 charges related to her posting a n*de photo of herself with her son online.
She’s appealed the sentence and is currently out on bail in the sum of Ghc 80,000 with two sureties.
