Ghanaians Roast Akufo-Addo Over Construction Of GHc5 Million ‘Ghana Awards House’

President Nana Akufo-Addo yesterday cut sod for the construction of a five million Ghana Cedis Ghana Award House, an administrative building for the Head of States Awards Scheme.

Once completed, the Ghana Award House project will be a two-storey office block, with a two hundred (200) capacity conference room, and training facility designed to house the National Secretariat of the Head of State Award Scheme.

Speaking at the sod-cutting, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo stated that the Ghana Award House will be constructed at a cost of five million cedis (GH¢5 million), and it will help drive growth, impact, and the effective and efficient delivery of the Award Scheme to all young people in Ghana and beyond.

He also announced that “Ghana will be the second African country after the Presidents’ Award of Kenya, and one of the few countries globally, to have its own administrative office.”

The construction of a GHC5 million Ghana Award House has not sat well with some Ghanaians who have taken time to air their confusion on social media.

Many claim there are more pressing matters in the country that GHc5 million can solve easily but the government has no interest in such projects.
