Police in Obomeng, a suburb of Kwahu have arrested a lesbian couple who were about to get married in the area.
Starr news reports that a team of police and traditional authorities stormed the supposed venue for the wedding and carried out several arrests.

22 Attendees at the wedding were arrested with the rest, about 8 in number, managing to escape the grips of the police.
Gay marriage is not legal in Ghana so I don’t know how this couple were going to get married – it was probably to be an informal ceremony.
Chief of Obomeng, Nana Effah Opinamang III, told Kasapa Fm Monday that they heard rumours of the wedding and thus informed the police who mobilied a team to storm the venue.

This comes as the issue of LGBT rights have become a hot button issue in Ghana, dominating the airwaves for weeks following the closure of the LGBT office opened in Accra.
