We’ll Not Admit Them Till They Cut their Hair – Headmistress of Achimota School Rejects GES Directive to Admit Rastafarian Students

The headmistress of Achimota School has rejected the directive of the Ghana Education Service to admit two Rastafarian students with their dreadlocks on.

The headmistress of the school has reportedly rejected the directive and insists that the students would not be admitted unless they cut their hair.

Two Rastafarian students went viral last week after it emerged that they had been denied admission into Achimota School due to their hair.

The students refused to cut down their dreadlocks, which is a requirement of their faith. The school said they cannot be admitted with long hair as it flouts GES directives.

But the Ghana Education Service intervened and said the students must be admitted with their hair once there is proof that they’re Rastafarians.

However, whilst everyone thought that was the end of the matter, the headmistress has refused the directive.

Starr Fm reports that there was a series of talks between GES and the headmistress Monday, after which she said that “the school will not compromise on its school rules and will only admit the students if they take off their dreadlocks,”
