On Wednesday March 17 2021, it was reported that Tanzanian President John Magufuli passed on and his vice President Samia Suluha occupying the vacant position.

The 61-year-old was rumored to have fallen seriously ill. It is currently unclear the cause of his death. His last public appearance was in February 27.
