20th December, 2020 was the original date slated for the final funeral rites of Late Former President Jerry John Rawlings but it has been postponed indefinitely.
The Government of the Republic of Ghana made the announcement in a press statement stating a family misunderstanding as reason for postponing the funeral.
It is said the misunderstanding erupted between the Awadada of the Anlo State, Agbotui and the Allied family of Mr. Jerry John Rawlings.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the funeral will not be held from 20th December, 2020 as planned.” Part of the statement reads.

The Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ministry wrote to the international community and diplomatic that until the family feud is resolved, the date slated for the funeral cannot be met.
Former President Rawlings died on Thursday 12 November, 2020 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The New date for his burial and final funeral rites is yet to be announced.
