His demand for a recount triggered a quick reply from his opponent, the NPP’s Lydia Ahassan.
She penned a qucik response which she posted on Facebook.
According to her, she won by sicking to clean politics, insinuating that John was playing ‘dirty’ politics.
She wrote: “If there is any one who is skeptical that clean politics and genuine politics can win an election; if there is any one who still doubts the redemptive power of God to guide a woman like me through the rough terrain of Ghana’s politics of insults and vilification, and lift me out of moments of great pain and adversity to a position of glory, the results of this election is your answer,”
The keenly contested election between NPP’s Lydia and actor turned politician John Dumelo was settled in favour of the incumbent.
Lydia won with 39,851 of the total votes while Dumelo managed 37,778 votes, a difference of just 2,073.
