It Is Difficult Being A Female Musician In Nigeria – Tiwa Savage Cries

Nigerian music queen, Tiwa Savage, has bemoaned how the male dominated industry in Nigeria belittle the efforts of Female musicians.

The exceptional singer told Ebuka in an interview how females are suffering to rock shoulders with the males in the industry.

Tiwa echoed how the industry want to dictate how females operate and the limit their craft must reach. She blamed this behavior on the media in the country for being bias towards the male.

“There’s a lot of things female acts go through that the public do not know”

There was this time I arrived for an event and there was no car to pick me. So I had to order an UBER to take me to the place. But then another artist, a male Nigerian, who had 6 cars waiting to pick him up.” Tiwa said.

“I have really tried in this music scene and I think I have worked with most of the female artists from the likes of Simi, Waje, Becca, Efya and more.” She added.

With over 10 years as a musician in Nigeria, Tiwa has used her voice to advocate for equal rights in both gender in the entertainment industry. She is unafraid to speak against foul treatment and bully.
