Some social media users are raining insults on Ophelia Hayford, the widow of the late Mfantseman MP Ekow Quansah Hayford.
The insults stem from the fact that she has filed for the nomination of the Mfantseman Parliamentary Seat as the candidate of the NPP to replace her husband.
Ophelia filed her nomination today at the EC office with a promise to win the seat in honour of her late husband.
As a point of note, Ophelia’s husband Ekow recently died in a car crash and she was chosen by the party to replace him.
This is the 2nd time in a short while such a scenario has occurred after Lydia Alhassan, another widow, was chosen by the NPP to replace her late husband Kyeremanten Agyarko.
Reaction on social media is not pleasant as some people say the lady is disrespecting her husband’s name. Others say a bad example is being set for ladies that if they want to enter parliament they should just have their husband’s killed.
