Kuami Eugene Exposed for Stealing ‘Wele, Sebe, Kontomire’ From Another Artiste – Court Case Looming

The most iconic line in Ghanaian music right now, Kuami Eugene’s ‘Wele, Sebe, Kontomire’ from his song ‘Open Gate’, is apparently a stolen line.

A Ghanaian hiplife artiste known as Raphael Essien aka Anamon, claims that Kuami Eugene stole the line from him.

He was speaking on Rainbow Radio when he claimed that Eugene stole the lyrics from a 2012 song Anamon released known as ‘Ashawo’.

According to him, what the singer did is disrespectful and he should have called him to ask permission before using the lyrics.

“If he is respectful, he would have called and asked permission from me before using the words,” Anamon said.

“I spent several amounts of money on the song. I registered the words and the terms at the Copyright office”.

Anamon said he is going to take the issue to court unless Kuami Eugene’s management contacts him to solve the issue.

He is confident he has the evidence to bring down Kuami Eugene since he has registered the trademark to the lyrics.

‘Wele, Sebe, and Kontomire’ is the most famous line from Kuame Eugene’s ‘Open Gate’. The line has become iconic and helped him win the Artiste of the Year at the 2020 VGMA.

Unfortunately, it has now become yet another line Kuami is accused of stealing!
