NPP Selects Wife of Murdered MP Ekow Quansah to Replace Him in the 2020 Elections

The NPP has once again chosen the wife of a dead MP to stand in his stead in approaching elections.

The wife of murdered MP Ekow Hayford, Ophelia Hayford, has been chosen by the party as his replacement for the 2020 Parliamentary elections.

The choice of Ophelia was made at a party meeting held today, October 13th 2020.

Ophelia is reportedly an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and has now tended in her resignation to take over her newfound political career.

Ekow Quansah Hayford, the NPP MP for Mfantseman Constituency, was brutally murdered last week, allegedly shot by armed robbers.

With the elections right around the corner, the NPP has settled on his widow as his replacement.

This follows a similar move taken by the NPP in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency when MP Emmanuel Agyarko passed away and his wife Lydia Alhsasan was named as his replacement.

Lydia won the seat so it appears the NPP sees using widows as a winning strategy; otherwise, why would they repeat it again?

It really seems a bit dirty to me but then what is politics if not a dirty game? The NPP is obviously hoping to ride the sympathy felt for the widowed Ophelia to retain this seat as well.
