Nigerian singer D’banj has reportedly been cleared of his rape charges by the Nigerian police after his accuser, Miss Seyitan withdrew her petition citing personal reasons.

Miss Seyitan had accused the musician of sneaking into her hotel room with a spare key to have non-consensual sex with her. According to her, the said incident happened in 2018 at the Glee Hotel, where she was allegedly lodged.
The singer had vehemently denied the allegations in its entirety, with the management of Glee hotel also issuing a statement to state that they have no records of Miss Seyitan in their 2018 records.
However, in a letter addressed to the IGP dated July 17, 2020, sent by her lawyer, Olamide Omileye, Seyitan she was withdrawing from the case for personal reasons.
“We hereby officially notify you of our client’s intention to withdraw and discontinue her petition against Mr Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj for personal reasons.” The letter read in part.
According to the Nigerian police, the case will be discontinued for lack of evidence.
