Legendary Ghanaian footballer, Nii Odartey Lamptey has spoken about the traumatic experience with his ex-wife Gloria, saying he prays that no fellow man goes through such a painful experience.
The former Ghana Black Stars and Anderlecht Striker, who had five children with his ex-wife, discovered 20 years after marriage through a DNA test that he did not father any of the three surviving children after two had already succumbed to death earlier.

The footballer divorced his wife upon realizing that he has been living a lie since he got married to her in 1993. However, Gloria Appiah appealed in Court to be given Odartey Lamptey’s plush seven-bedroom mansion in East Legon.
However, an exhausting legal tussle, the court ruled in the former footballer’s favour, saying his ex-wife did not deserve a share in his properties.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Kasapa FM, Odartey Lamptey noted that the period in court has been a challenging period he prays no man on earth goes through.
“I’ve suffered throughout this period and I thank God we’ve brought finality to the case. The appeal lasted for 3 years and that is a lot of time. I thank my Lawyers who worked at ensuring that I won this case. No man should ever go through such traumatic moments in their life,” he said.
