You Threw Away Your Principles for Politics! – The Pepper Dem Ladies are Fighting As Efe Plange Slams Fellow Member Dr Carol Donkor

A civil war has exploded among the Pepper Dem Ministries feminist group following the appointment of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as the running mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr Louise Carol Donkor, one of the group’s founders and failed NPP parliamentary aspirant, released a lengthy statement Tuesday evening to downplay Mahama’s appointment of the first female Vice Presidential candidate by one of Ghana’s two major parties.

According to her the appointment of Professor Opoku-Agyemang is to sanitize Mahama’s image and that it would actually work against the fight for women’s empowerment.

“The NDC’s nomination of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, deceitful as it is merely intended to harness her seeming nobility to sanitize the image of John Dramani Mahama, irredeemably blemished by corruption and incompetence, sets her up as a sheep amongst wolves, without any true opportunity for impact,” she said in a statement.

“Rather than signalling transformational progress, the nomination could set the women agenda many years back in the most unlikely event that Ghanaians give their mandate to the NDC in 2020 to deliver an assured continuation of poor governance and corruption.” she added.

That immediately angered Efe Plange who took to Facebook to hit back, slamming her sister-in-arms for lacking values and for letting go of the fight for women empowerment to advance her political ambitions.

“It looks like Dr. Carol is a politician first, even before being a Christian. She’s a Politician first, before feminist. And for me, this is very unsettling and I can no longer trust her on her principles, values and integrity,” Plange wrote in a scathing rebuke.

“This statement she’s put out is so appalling, very unfair and extremely intellectually dishonest. She has allowed her party to “use” her to her own detriment.”

As the fight between the two escalates, social media users are just grabbing popcorn to watch in glee as the group turn their own heavy fire on each other.
