General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito, has called for Tema West MP Carlos Ahenkorah to be prosecuted for violating COVID-19 protocols.
According to the veteran politician, the law calls for prosecution of those who breach COVID protocols and not just for their resignation hence Ahenkorah must be prosecuted.

“And with Ministers having tested positive, some of them are going round registration centres spreading COVID-19 and they are not being prosecuted. So we are calling for the prosection of Carlos Ahenkorah. Resignation is not part of our laws for the COVID-19 protocols,” he said.
“If they have taken that administrative step [resignation], we agree but we are waiting to see that they are prosecuted the same way as the ordinary men on the street. They must prosecute Carlos Ahenkorah,” Mosquito added.
His comments come after the Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Carlos Ahenkorah admitted visiting a voter registration centre despite being positive for COVID-19 and having been advised to self-isolate.
He later came to defend himself and said he’d done nothing wrong.
The President then ordered him to resign or be fired and Ahenkorah offered his resignation.
