Self-Isolation Does Not Mean I Have to Stay In My Room All Day – Carlos Ahenkorah Dares Akufo-Addo

Member of Parliament for Tema West and Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah, has defended his decision to visit a voter registration exercise despite being positive for COVID-19.

“The fact that I have been told to self-isolate doesn’t mean I shouldn’t step out of my house. How many people, who don’t even know their status step out?” Ahenkorah belligerently said on Citi Eyewitness News Thursday.

“Whether we like it or not I’ll have to go in the midst of people. You can’t say in a registration period like this, I don’t have a right to go out and try to solve a problem,” Ahenkorah added.

“I never got in the midst of people. I drove in my car and got there, got down and spoke far away with the EC officer who explained the issue to me. I told her I will report this to their boss and then I just left. I was very careful. It is important for people like us to know their status because whether you like it not, we will go into the midst of people”,

The MP’s reckless behaviour has apparently led the President to order him to step down or be fired, but from the looks of things he’s not ready to apologize for his actions.
