Twitter Trolls Asamoah Gyan on 10th Anniversary of His Penalty Miss Against Uruguay – The Pain Is Still Real

Today is exactly 10 years to the day since the most traumatic moment in Ghanaian and African football history, when Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty which would have made Ghana the first African country to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Ghanaians on Twitter are remembering the tragic moment with some humour as they troll Asamoah Gyan over his miss that day.

On that fateful day, Luis Suarez used his hand to stop a goal for Ghana in our world cup quarter final.

We were given a penalty deep into extra time, literally the last kick of the game – Gyan missed!

The game went into a penalty shootout and Uruguay won – it was easily the most dramatic moment of the whole tournament.

10 years after we can now laugh a little at the incident although it’s still painful.

Rather than mourn, twitter has decided to use the 10th anniversary to troll Gyan for his miss, sending him to the top of the trends.
