More Trouble For D’banj As Over 17,000 Persons Sign Petition To Remove Him As United Nations Youth Ambassador

The woes of Prominent Nigerian Entertainer D’banj show no signs of abating anytime soon as an online petition to get him removed as United Nations Youth Ambassador, has garnered over 17,000 signatures.

D’banj stands accused by one Miss Seyitan Babatawo, as having raped her in 2018, a claim which the singer vehemently denies.

Though the lady at the center of the issue had later made a U-Turn by apologizing for dragging the name of the singer in the mud, and even promoting the singer’s new project on her social media handles, it turned out that she was made to do all those under duress.

This latest development is what has drawn much condemnation unto the singer with a petition being initiated to strip him of his ambassadorial role. The petition also goes ahead to appeal to all brands and corporate organizations to cut their affiliation with the entertainer.

The petition reads in part, ” We call on the United Nations, and United Nations Women Africa organizations to remove Nigerian artiste Mr Dapo Oyebanjo as a youth ambassador and distance themselves from his actions following the sponsored kidnap of Seyitan who accused D’Banj of rape and sexual assault which happened in 2018

Women in Nigeria are increasingly at risk of sexual violence and the United Nations and United Nations Women Africa as an entity committed to the empowerment of women should not be seen to associate themselves with alleged rapists, abusers, and kidnappers.
