Joy Fm’s Gary Al-Smith On Admission At UGMC After Testing Positive For COVID-19

Renowned Joy Fm sports journalist, Gary Al-Smith has admitted to being one of five persons from the Multimedia Group Limited who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Multimedia earlier revealed through a statement that five of their staff have tested positive for the disease and are responding to treatment, though they failed to give details of the affected persons.

The statement however did mention that the affected persons are all asymptomatic and are responding to treatment, while also announcing that the company has taken measures to protect their staff and clients.

Moments after the statement was released, the Internationally acclaimed sports journalist revealed on his Facebook page that he was one of the affected persons.

Gary went ahead to grant an interview on Joy Fm’s News Night program where he indicated that he was responding to treatment.

“I am one of the five. If you’ve been seeing me on TV and radio. I have been very well. And in the last few days, been hosting my program via zoom from the hospital room at the UGMC. COVID-19 is real”. He said.

Gary Al-Smith has been A fierce campaigner of safety protocols since the outbreak of this pandemic, dedicating his social media handles to propagate safety protocols and general news regarding the virus. He has promised to use his positive status as a yardstick to do even more public education.
