The General Administrator at The International Godsway Church, Kwadwo Adu Boahen has revealed details about Bishop Obinim’s arrest and detention and how he was allegedly maltreated by Police personnel.
According to Mr Boahen, a day before the Bishop’s arrest, he was not feeling well and had been on a short admission at the hospital, though he was allowed to go home.
He explained that on the day of Obinim’s arrest, the policemen upon seeing his present condition agreed to escort him to the hospital at East Legon for treatment, while also cautioning him to report to the police station after seeing a doctor.
Kwadwo Adu Boahen added that on Tuesday, 19th May 2020, Obinim reported himself at the police station to write his statement but he was later handcuffed and taken to Kaneshie Circuit Court 1.
According to him, even after the judge had granted their pleas for bail and set the bail conditions at 100,000 cedis with 3 sureties, the police deliberately refused to activate the bail despite the fact that they had met all the conditions.
