As Ghana still attempts to unravel the mystery behind the unexpected demise of popular Evangelist, ‘Apraku my daughter‘, a Facebook user has attempted to clarify the events that led to the loss of the late preacher’s church.

Prophet Apraku was a very popular Evangelist in the late ’90s and early 2000s, known across the country as he travelled far and near on a gospel propagation enterprise.

Also known widely for being subjected to severe beatings by unidentified persons that resulted in a loss of about 2 teeth, after he had prophesied the victory of then-candidate John Agyekum Kuffuor, it is without a doubt that Apraku in his heydays was a very powerful prophet.

But not only was he an evangelist who travelled far and near to preach the gospel, but he also had a vibrant church with about 25 branches and numerous junior pastors under his supervision.

Surprisingly, as we may all have noticed at the latter part of his life, the once-famous preacher died poor and desolate without any church to his name. Many have tried to find out what actually happened to the late Preacher’s 25 churches.

A Facebook user has attempted to narrate the events that led to the loss of Apraku my daughter’s once-vibrant church. He wrote,

“I am not giving you Sofo Apraku’s credentials to impress you, but simply to share that evangelism had been his passion from day one. One particular attention I give to his passion was how he declared on-air prior to the 2000 General elections that NDC will lose. ( The atmosphere was tensed)”.

“After the declaration, he was later surrounded by some unknown men in uniform and given the beatings of his life. He subsequently lost his three teeth”.

“Those days, Apraku will travel abroad to preach the word of God and bring many cars. He will distribute some of the cars to some media houses in exchange for airtime. (He was passionate about his radio evangelism)”.

“In one of his travels, he kept long in Europe and asked his Deputy to steer the affairs of the church. Anytime he calls, his deputy tells him the church has developed”.

“He had a chat with Rev Kusi Berko who told him he went to his church and saw only two people. He called Apraku’s deputy and he said they’ve moved the church to a different location”.

“That was how Apraku lost his church including all the branches to his deputy. How many people can go through this trauma and come out 100% fit? Wo te obi ho Asɛm a, fa akonwa”.

“As for the Lady who took a video of him and circulated it, Nyame mfa wo bɔne nkyɛ wo.(Fɛdeɛ ne Owuo deɛ, fɛnyenam Owuo)”

“Yes some of us will criticize him for going for impartation and financial help at wrong places in his last years on earth. Akyɛdeɛ bɔne wɔ wiase. Ɛyɛ sɛ wo bɛ kusa wo bankye”.
