Akua Donkor’s Party GFP Petitions Parliament to Gift Akufo-Addo Four More Years in Power To Fight the Coronavirus

The Ghana Freedom Party, founded by controversial Ghanaian businesswoman and politician Akua Donkor, has petitioned Parliament to gift the President four more years in power.

In a letter addressed to the speaker of Parliament, the party claims the President has done such a phenomenal job battling the pandemic that he deserves four more years to completely defeat it.

“I am advocating for His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to be given another four year term to help him utterly defeat this deadly pandemic – Corona Virus,” the letter read, in part.

“Firstly, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has helped immensely in containing the spread of the virus by putting in place mitigation measures and I am optimistic that, if he is given an additional four year term, he will be able to eliminate this deadly Pandemic from the system.”

The letter added that Parliament should debate its request.

Nana Akufo-Addo initially was widely praised for his pandemic response but in recent weeks he seems to have taken a backseat even as Ghana’s coronavirus numbers continue to exponentially rise.

At this point there is no reason to say his handling of the crisis has been any better than any of his counterparts around the world to the extent that he should be ‘gifted’ a 2nd term when elections are only a few months away.
