Update: Obinim Arrested And Charged By The Police

Bishop Daniel Obinim has been arrested by the police and formally charged with offenses of publication of false news and forgery of document contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and Other Offenses Act, 1960.

It will be recalled that news was making the rounds over the weekend that the controversial man of God had been placed under arrest while on a routine counseling session at his church.

The reports further claimed that the Bishop had feigned sickness and had been admitted at a hospital in East Legon, a claim which was outrightly denounced by the Bishop’s camp.

However, in an official press release by the Police, the CID confirms official arrest and charge of the bishop and reports that a magistrate court in Accra has granted the man of God bail in the sum of GHS 100,000 with three sureties, one person justified. The report continues that the Bishop is expected to re-appear in court on June 1 2020.

The CID administration, according to the press release, further entreated the public to disregard the video circulating on social media on the arrest of Bishop Obinim, insisting it is not related to the case.
