Self-acclaimed dancehall King of Ghana Shatta Wale might be a lot of things but one thing many won’t associate with him is that of a romantic.

Shatta Wale on several occasions have stated his love for his ex-fiance and baby mama Michelle aka Shatta Michy but many would have taken it as Shatta being Shatta.

When Shatta proposed to Michy in 2018 on stage at the Reign album concert, a lot of people including myself thought it was Shatta just playing the media to ensure that he hog the headlines for the week if not for the entire month. It was therefore not surprising when the wedding never happened, but his recent antics seem to suggest that the proposal was not only genuine, he still has huge admiration and love for the woman who has been by his side for over a decade.

On Shatta Michy’s birthday, like most people Shatta Wale wished her happy birthday on his Instagram page but within 24 hours, the leader of the SM movement had written a song, recorded it and dropped it. He claimed to have missed the good old days when they were together and that inspired him to go into the studio and record a song for the mother of his son.

The likes of Stonebwoy and Sarkodie have given shoutouts to their wives but Shatta is such a romantic that he recorded an entire song for Shatta Michy. This romantic gesture has been trashed by the Wahaala Boys. The way they twisted his messages on Instagram and gave it a whole meaning makes you wonder what goes on their minds. Shatta has being dropping hints about how much he loves her in several songs including his willingness to take a bullet for her. All one must do is watch the music video for Low Tempo and listen carefully to the lyrics while paying special attention to the visuals. The first verse tells one all they need to know about how romantic Shatta is. This one line alone “you light my world like some bobo” is enough to melt the heart of a woman with stone for a heart.

It is about time we gave Shatta Wale the credit he deserves for being the most romantic if not one of the top romantics in the celebrity world of Ghana.
