The Founder and Head Pastor of The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Dr Mensah Otabil has added his voice to calls being made to President Akuffo Addo to extend the ban on Church Services.

According to the revered Pastor, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will suffer a major setback if churches are allowed to immediately assemble for worship.

He said the pandemic is real and churches have a responsibility to protect their members than seek their own interest. Dr Otabil stressed on the need for churches to admonish their members to follow strict hygiene and social distancing protocols.

The Pastor who was speaking at a virtual church service organized by his church today stated, “This is not the time for churches to consider gathering together in assemblies because the crisis before us is not going down”.

Church leaders have intensified their calls for President Akuffo Addo to lift the ban on church services as the deadline for the ban expires tonight. Some Christian leaders came together recently to outline guidelines which they believe are measures that will check the spread of the virus, should they be allowed to congregate.

It is unclear if the President will accede to their demands or extend the lockdown. President Akuffo Addo is expected to address the nation soon to clear the nation’s doubts on the subject matter.
