Earlier today, Multimedia Group Ghana parted ways with media personality and actress Naa Ashorkor Mensah Doku.

Naa Ashorkor herself took to social media to announce the split, probably to beat the news leaking to the press.

The actress did not give a specific reason for her axing, but a new report sheds more light on what potentially happened to her.

According to an enewsgh report, Naa Ashorkor was sacked because she refused to perform other duties expected of her.

Despite being hired to work on Joy Fm, media networks in Ghana generally have their staff appear across channels they own – so one person could work on both radio and TV.

For instance presenters on TV3 appear on shows on 3Fm and vice versa.

Naa Ashorkor however during her tenure at Joy Fm refused to appear on other Multimedia channels, this report claims citing sources from Joy Fm.

Thus the station felt they had no option but to terminate her contract, although she was paid one month’s salary in lieu of her being given advance notice of her sacking.

After Naa Ashorkor’s sacking, news emerged that Multimedia are planning to lay off another 100 workers, so this could simply be a PR move to put a shine on Naa Ashorkor’s particular termination.

If other workers are being laid off due to financial difficulties as alleged, then it’s hard to make a separate case for Naa Ashorkor’s axing being unrelated to financial difficulties.
