Celebrating his birthday today, Opemsuo Otumfuo Osei Tutu who is the 16th Asantehene could not have an extravagant event to mark his day, probably because of the pandemic that has ravaged the entire world.
Nonetheless, a solemn ceremony was held at the Manhyia Palace to commemorate the 70th year of the Asante Monarch. The ceremony appears to have been attended by a few dignitaries and family members of the King.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was enstooled on 26th April 1999 as the 16th Asantehene. The monarch is best noted for blending modernity with traditional leadership. He is also mostly acknowledged for mediating a successful closure to the Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis, where he led a committee of eminent chiefs to draw a road map which brought about the enskinment of the current Ya-Na Abukari Mahama.
