Genevieve Nnaji’s Lionheart and Five Great Nollywood Movies to Stream on Netflix This Lockdown

Netflix and chill has become a rallying cry for millions of people across the world in this coronavirus infested time.

Stuck at home with little to do, watching movies/series is one of the best way to pass the time.

Nigerian movies have always been some of the best coming out of Africa. Nollywood excels in drama ahead of all other genres but some good comedies and thrillers also come from that industry.

If you’re stuck home at this time and need a few hours to kill on Netflix, there are Nigerian movies out there that would make your day if you try them out.

Below are some of the best Nollywood movies streaming on Netflix right now.

Banana Island Ghost

Banana Island Ghost is one of my favourite Nollywood movies of the past few years. Written and directed by BB Sasore, it’s a goofy comedy with a ridiculous premise that somehow works.

It tells the story of a ‘ghost’ who was given three days by God to find a soul mate before entering heaven.

Notable stars include Saheed Balogun, Ali Nuhu, Tina Mba, Uche Jombo and Shola Fapson.

King of Boys

Nollywood’s version of ‘The Godfather’, ‘King of Boys’ is another fan favourite, a crime thriller that immensely entertains.

‘King of Boys’ follows a powerful and ambitious female character who will stop at nothing to become master of Nigeria’s political world.

Notable stars include Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Jide Kosoko, Osas Ighodaro, Illbliss and Reminisce, among others.
