United States President, Donald Trump has announced his decision to cut funding to the WHO after accusing them of mismanaging the fight against coronavirus and being biased towards China.

It must be noted that America is the biggest single funder of the WHO, providing 400 million dollars last year alone. This has the tendency of being a big blow to the global fight against the dreaded virus.

The World Health Organization is already tight on funds as they have only about a fifth of the budget of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), America’s disease control and prevention organization.
Director of the WHO centre on National and Global Health Law, Laurence Gostin says while he is also a critic, this decision is terribly timed especially as we are still in a global crisis.
