The government of Ghana has announced yet another measure to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic which has crippled the entire world.
To help easily identify and track new infections, the COVID-19 tracker app has been developed.

The App was unveiled at an official launch held this afternoon alongside the Easter Monday virtual concert.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia officially launched the app, which is available on both Android and ioS platforms.
The App works by providing the general public with a way to quickly and efficiently report any symptoms which might be an indicator of the virus. It asks you questions about symptoms, risk factors and geographical location.
In case a person tests positive, alerts are sent to anyone who has been in contact with the person to self-isolate, with the infected person’s identity being kept anonymous.
Bawumia said at the launch: “It will help us easily track people with the virus, those who have had contact with others. It is also useful in quarantine reliability if certain individuals need self-quarantine.
“Ghana is one of the few countries to deploy such a tracker to hunt the virus. I officially launch the ‘GH COVID-19 Tracker’ app and urge all Ghanaians to use it well,” he added.
For those without smartphones, they can access the platform via USSD short code *769#.
The app is the latest in a series of timely interventions from the government in dealing with the pandemic – the closure of the borders, partial lockdown of the hotspots of the infection as well as social interventionist policies such as free water for the next three months and 50% off for electricity bills.
The new app adds another layer of rapid response to dealing with this pandemic, which has brought down some of the richest and most powerful nations on earth.
Ghana so far seems to be dealing with it quite well particularly due to efforts of the government.
