Born to Business Mogul, Adedeji Adeleke, and University Lecturer, Vero Adedeji, it is quite obvious that Davido was born into the “good life”. His father, who recently acquired a private jet at the cost of 67 million dollars, has never ceased to support his son’s career. After returning to Nigeria in 2011, Davido paused his music career and agreed to honor his father by enrolling at Babcock University. In July 2015, he graduated from Babcock with a degree in music after his father paid the university to start a music department for an inaugural class of one student.

Davido is a father of three children and is engaged to the mother of his third, Chioma. Despite his achievements and endorsements in the music industry, the musician has on a couple of occasions been at the centre of controversy.

In May 2014, Davido criticized the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) after missing his flight to London, and accused them of pestering him for money. On May 11, 2014, the PR officer for the NIS denied Davido’s allegations and said they did not issue him an exit permit because he did not have the correct travel documents with him.

In December 2015, Vanguard newspaper reported Davido and the mother of one of his daughters were embroiled in a struggle over custody of their child. The mother and her family filed a petition against Davido and his family for alleged child trafficking. In a petition sent to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Davido and his family were accused of keeping the child away from her mother and of trying to flee Nigeria with the baby. Davido said the allegations against him were false but apologized to Chief Dele Momodu, the cousin of the girl’s mother.

Boasting of endorsement deals with MTN Pulse, Guinness Nigeria and Infinix Mobile, one thing is certain – Davido is arguably one of the most influential and celebrated musicians on the continent.
