UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Admitted to Hospital Due to ‘Persistent’ Coronavirus Symptoms

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 55, has been admitted to hospital due to coronavirus, 10 days after he was first diagnosed with the virus.

Johnson had been displaying ‘persistent symptoms’ of the virus, leading his family doctor to recommend that he is hospitalized.

“On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests,” a statement from Downing Street said.

“This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus.”

Despite his hospitalization, Johnson is expected to remain in charge of the government, although the Foreign Secretary would chair a coronavirus meeting to be held Monday which was initially expected to be headed by the Premier.
