Despite the closure of the country’s borders, the United States government managed to secure passage of 305 of its citizens out of the country.
The 305 have been flown back home as the coronavirus pandemic sweeps across the world.

President Akufo-Addo in a national address last week announced that to deal with the pandemic, the country is being locked down.
But the US government on Wednesday announced the repatriation of 300 of its citizens out of Ghana.
“On March 25, 2020, with the strong support of the Government of Ghana, the U.S. Embassy in Accra facilitated the return to the United States of 305 American citizens from Ghana to the United States.” the U.S Embassy announced on its website.
“If and when additional flights become available, the Embassy will provide instructions to American citizens in Ghana through the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP), the U.S. Embassy website and social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.”
