From the look of things, the fear and dread alone of Covid-19 would kill more persons than the virus itself and it has started in Kenya already.
One man whose name has been given as George Kotini Hezron is dead because youth in Msambweni in Kwale County stoned him to death.
According to Kenyan newspaper The Star, the youth in the village had suspected that the bereaved has been affected and on Wednesday evening when he was from his way home after drinking himself to stupor, they started throwing stones at him and he was rushed to Msambweni Subcounty Hospital.
The police said he died from injuries at the hospital. Speaking to the newspaper, the police commented;
“Someone reported that the attackers saw the man staggering. They approached him, started an argument and beat him up.
“Kotini met a group of youths and an argument ensued as the youths took advantage of his drunkenness and started accusing him of suffering from coronavirus.”
Adding that no arrest has been made so far; “No arrests have been made but we have launched investigations into the matter.”
Kenya has since confirmed six cases in all since the virus broke.
