Cure on the Way? 79-year-Old Italian Man Recovers from Coronavirus After Taking A Drug Developed for the Ebola Virus

All over the world, scientists from all backgrounds are fighting as hard as they can to search for a cure for the COVID-19 infection, Coronavirus.

The disease has risen to the level of a worldwide pandemic and is taking lives on a daily basis.

Whilst the search for a coronavirus vaccine goes on, it seems there might be hope in an already existing antiviral drug, designed to fight the last viral infection to set the world on edge, Ebola.

UK’s Daily Mail reports that a 79-year-old Italian man has fully recovered after being treated with a drug developed for Ebola, ‘remdesivir’.

The old and the infirm are those at highest risk of dying from coronavirus but the unidentified 79-year-old fully recovered after taking the drug.

He spent a total of 12 days in the hospital and is now free of the virus and has been discharged.

According to the Daily Mail, the same drug has shown promise in treating other coronavirus patients in the U.S.

Doctors at the hospital in Italy where this man was cured, San Martino Hospital in Genoa, are administering the drug to other patients.

It remains to be seen if it’s miraculous effects can be replicated in these other patients.
