7 Ghanaians have been arrested in Nigeria for allegedly smuggling drugs into the country.
They were arrested at Abule-Egba, Lagos State.
According to reports, the group of 7 were arrested by a police patrol team loitering at a bus stop.
Upon their arrest, 3 Ghanaian passports and some substances suspected to be drugs was found with them.
“Three Ghanian international passports and some capsules suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered from them. Investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson told the media.
He added that the suspects claim that a Nigerian living in Ghana promised to send them to Libya in exchange for cash but after their arrival in Nigeria, he abandoned them and took off.
