Ghanaian Born English Footballer Callum Hudson-Odoi Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Ghanaian born English footballer Callum Hudson-Odoi has become the latest footballer to test positive for COVID-19.

His club side, Chelsea announced his diagnosis the night of Thursday, March 12th in a statement released via the club’s official website.

“Chelsea men’s team player Callum Hudson-Odoi had a positive test result for coronavirus returned this evening,” the statement read.

“Chelsea personnel who had recent close contact with the player in the men’s team building will now self-isolate in line with government health guidelines.”

Hudson-Odoi’s diagnosis came a few hours after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also tested positive for the ailment.

Chelsea’s premier league game on Saturday against Aston Villa now looks set to be postponed, as does Arsenal’s game against Brighton.

The Premier League clubs would hold an emergency meeting today to decide the fate of the season, which looks likely to be suspended.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, 19, was born to Ghanaian parents in the U.K in 2000. His father is former Hearts of Oak footballer Bismark Odoi.
