In recent times, veteran actors becoming broke in their old age, forcing them to disgracefully come out to beg the public for money, has become something of a regular occurrence.
We would see actors we have adored through the years reduced to begging for money, usually due to illness.
At least in this one case, fellow actors have stepped up to help a colleague.
Veteran actor William Addo aka Akpatse has been battling blindness for a while now and his colleagues have stepped in to help him with some money.
The Screen Actors Guild, a subsidiary of the Ghana Actors Guild, presented an undisclosed sum of money to Addo to help him take care of his bills.
Kalsoume Sinare, welfare officer of the Guild, told Citi News that the donation is to show their love for their ailing colleague.
“We are actors and people shouldn’t see us outside and think it is all glamour. We are just like any other person. So we urge the corporate bodies and benevolent individuals to help us. Although we are helping, we can’t do it alone,” she told Citi News.
