Dutch-based Sierra Leonean afro dancehall artist Muzay Man made the entire continent proud after picking up a massive award in Belgium which placed him top of the African music pyramid.
Muzay Man, real name Musa Conteh, was adjudged the best male continental artist of the year 2019 at the Belgian All Works of Life (AWOL) awards.
The award marked the culmination of years of hard work by the burgeoning artist who has been making waves in music all the way from his native Sierra Leone to the Netherlands and Belgium in Europe.
It also served as vindication for his major backer, Dutch woman Madam Greethe who in 2018 signed him to first international contract.
Madam Greethe had seen massive potential in Muzay Man and chose to invest in him, and his career moves since then have only served to vindicate her.
Aside the AWOL Award, which is the magnum opus of his career, Muzay Man has won several honours back in his native Sierra Leone including a national recognition from former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
He was also the first artist in history to sell out the Globe Cinema Arena on Syke Street for a musical concert in 2016.
His hit singles include ‘Sonkoh Sonkoh’, which has over 100,000 views on YouTube, ‘Bo Cam Ya Ba’, ‘Lovetta’ ft LXG and ‘Ar dae Frade’.
He has his own record label, Muzay Man Entertainment MME which signed it’s first artist, Queen S in November 2019.
He also runs his own charity foundation the Muzay Man Charity Foundation.
Muzay Man has more planned for the future despite all the huge achievements marked so far.
On the evidence of where he’s starting from the sky can only be the limit.
