Nigerian Footballer Diagnosed with Coronavirus After the Virus Hit the Country

A Nigerian footballer, King Paul Akpan Udoh, has been diagnosed with Coronavirus (COVID-19).

22-year-old Udoh plays for the Italian Serie C side Pianese and has been quarantined after contracting the illness.

Italy is one of the hardest-hit countries in the world and Udoh is the first professional footballer believed to have caught it in the country.

Numerous Serie A games were cancelled last weekend due to the virus and games going ahead this weekend would be played without crowds.

The news arrives on the same day the virus reached Nigeria itself, coincidentally carried there by an Italian national.

Udoh played for the junior team of Juventus but has played at the senior level for lower league clubs including Viareggio, Virtus Lanciano and currently Pianese.
