Shatta Wale To Lead SM Fans On A Demonstration Against FDA

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has called on his colleagues in the music industry and other celebrities to come together to protest against Food and Drug Authority’s ban on celebs to endorse alcoholic beverages.

For some time now, Shatta Wale and other celebrities have called out the FDA to revise the law and if possible lift off the ban preventing celebrities to advertise for alcoholic beverages as it serves as a source of revenue for the country and celebrities.

But after their request went unanswered, Afia Schwarzenegger, Edem, Wendy Shay and others who were pushing for that development have dropped it. On the other hand, Shatta Wale is bent on pushing the agenda for the expected result.

The artiste has gone on social media live to call on other celebrities to come together to demonstrate against the FDA.

“Some of us don’t have [a] problem. I will only say this because I want to educate most of the artistes. Most of the people don’t see it this way. Some think it’s about women and showing off.

“Why don’t we come together and demonstrate. We are always talking about ‘supporting your own’ but if we charge and march to their [FDA] office in unity then from there we move to the Flagstaff House asking the government to lift the ban,” he said in the video.

The call for the ban to be lifted has become prominent after Ghanaian Brewery Company LTD, Adonko Bitters contacted Nigerian celebrities to advertise for them.

“Adonko wants to sign Ghanaian artistes too… We should let the government know how we need this business to happen. Some of you don’t know how lucrative ambassadorial deals are. People are paying attention to other things than what matters and it’s bad,” Shatta Wale added.
