For the second in a space of a week, Nigerian courts have issued death penalties – Osun State High Court in Ikirun has sentenced three men to death by hanging.
The men include; Nuhu Jimoh, David Ndubisi and Oluwaseun Aderibigbe.
According to reports, these robbers and seven others who died through a gunfire exchange by the police robbed First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank located on the same stretch in Ikirun in the Ifelodun Local Government Area on February 2016.
The attack took the lives of 32 people including 2 policemen and two bankers as they made away with a whopping N7, 486,300.00.
In 2017, the robbers were arraigned before the court on 10 count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, illegal possession of firearms and so on.
Just yesterday, January 30th 2020, Osun State High Court, Justice Jide Falola found the convicts guilty according to Section 6(b), 1(1) & (2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap. 34 Laws of Osun State, 2002, and Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, respectively.

According to the judged, Justice Jide Falola the money recovered from the convicts during the bank robbery be forfeited to the Osun Government whilst the guns recovered from them be forfeited to the police.
The three men have hence been sentenced to death by hanging.
This comes after Maryam Sanda was sentenced to death by hanging for murdering her husband.
